This lesson has been designed with flexibility in mind. You can:

• Allow students to begin working through the remaining Unit 1 assignments at their own pace.
• Introduce concepts from the Theory Unit

14.1 Walk Through Assignment 5 - Advanced Variables (Pythagoras)

• Instructions for this assignment can be found in the Shared Activity Folder (1.2 - Year 1: Programming Part 1).
• Explain that is a ‘final 10%’ assignment designed to only be reachable by those that have mastered the other concepts and therefore have time.

14.2 Begin to Discuss the No Help Test

• Instructions for this assignment can be found in the Shared Activity Folder (1.2 - Year 1: Programming Part 1).
• I have 2 types of ‘tests’ that I give at various points. One is the usual paper test. The second, I refer to as No Help Assignments (or just No Help Tests). These are one class assignments that must be completed in a test environment.
• Some of these tests allow students to have access/reference their old code and/or the Internet to solve the problem. Some charge a penalty for using old code.
