71.1 Curriculum Analysis Doc (Part 1)

  • See separate doc in the folder: 2.7 Year 2 - Exam Prep
  • Firstly, this document calls the students attention to the information about the exam itself.
  • Secondly, it asks them to search the details of the Course Description document looking for things on which they need further review.
  • It will likely take about 2 hours if done well.  This is a dry but important activity so you may want to split it over a couple of classes. (part 1 today, part 2 next class)

For your information (and it is one of the questions in the above activity):

71.2 Explore the Exam Reference Sheet

  • Go through the exam reference sheet (Appendix 1 of the CED) and look for differences/surprises
  • Pay particular attention to:
    • Differences in assignment and other math operators such as mod and random
    • Use of Repeat and Repeat Until
    • List assignment and other list functions
    • Lists start at ONE not at zero
    • For Each Loop 
    • Display & Input

71.3 AP Classroom Practice Quiz - Big Idea 3: Algorithms and Programming

  • At this time, your students should be ready to write some practice exam questions for this Big Idea 3 but likely only for the Programming side. They will do well on the Programming questions once they get used to the syntax of the exam but may do not so well on the Algorithms side. A review activity for Algorithms is coming up soon.
  • Create and administer a Formative Performance Task (or as I would call it, a practice quiz) on AP Classroom
  • Be sure to include some questions on Robots as those will be foreign to the students but not hard for them to figure out once they have seen the sample questions
  • How to videos are available on the AP Classroom site
  • If you do not have access to AP Classroom, use CodeHS for resources or skip down to lessons below that make reference to Khan Academy reviews.
